Do you also have that feeling, that sometimes you are just wondering off and thinking about all the amazing and beautiful widgets you want to use? You just want to be in the world were only the widgets exist? No man, just kidding, You probably don’t even know what a widget is or where you should use it for! So Let’s get into that.
I’m going to be talking about what is a widget for on wordpress. There are tons of different widgets, but we won’t be talking about all of them. I will explain what a widget is, how to use them and may highlight some of them.
What are we talking about if we say widget for on wordpress?!
Well it is really simple, a widget for on wordpress is a small block on the side bars, that is performing a specific function for something. For example I could be using a widget to show you the date and time of today. Widgets on wordpress are designed to make it really easy for the user to show something extra and to make the navigation for the visitor a lot easier.
If you have your own website already and you want to find the widgets go to your dashboard — appearance — widgets. It looks like the following picture.
You have the available widgets on your left side and on the right side you got the places where you could put the widgets. Just play around a little and then pick what you think is the best! Don’t use too much of those widgets though, might make your website look full.
So what kind of widgets should I use the most?
This really depends on what your goal is with the website. Do you have a blog post and do you want people to read your most recent or your favorites posts? Then use the widgets that are most effective to show those post.
Do you have a website that is trying to sell a lot of products? Then use your sidebars with widgets that show the best pictures of your best products. Use widgets that make the products look appealing and use it to show people your reviews about those products.
I could go on and on here, but I think you got the point. There are so many widgets and you can use them in any way you want to use them. There are also a lot of plugins on wordpress that come with widgets, so if you download any plugin, there is a chance that they also have a widget for you.
Just do what you think is right and what looks the best!
When you are too afraid to use them, stop thinking like that. Just use the widgets, see what works best for your site. If it doesn’t work it’s a simple click and the widget is gone, then you can put a different widget there and see how that one works. Just have fun while creating your website and checking the different options.
